Skakel Lawyer Admits Failing to Pay $400K in Taxes

Attorney Michael Sherman pleaded guilty Wednesday to willfully failing to pay about $400,000 in federal income taxes, admitting he had the ability to pay but spent the money on country club memberships, Jeeps for his children and other discretionary items. Sherman represented Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel when Skakel was convicted in 2002 of killing a teenage neighbor in 1975 and was paid more than $1 million in fees, according to Skakel’s supporters
