2nd Circuit Seems Open to Release of Some Chevron Film Outtakes
A federal appeals court appeared ready on Wednesday to order a filmmaker to release at least some outtakes from his documentary about environmental litigation against Chevron in Ecuador. Expressing skepticism about filmmaker Joseph Berlinger’s claim that some 600 pieces of footage from his movie “Crude” are protected by the journalist’s privilege, a 2nd Circuit panel indicated it would uphold, at least in part, a New York judge’s ruling granting two applications to issue subpoenas.
