Tuesday, with jobs and the economy taking center stage, Obama and the cameras largely ignored the five justices in attendance.

The Obama administration defended the health care overhaul in a filing Friday with the Supreme Court, saying the law is an appropriate response to a “crisis in the national health care market” and calling on the Court to uphold the core requirement that individuals buy insurance or pay a penalty.

Edward DuMont, an appellate litigation partner at Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to withdraw his nomination to the Federal Circuit. DuMont, who would have been the first openly gay federal appeals judge, was nominated in April 2010.
