A multidistrict litigation in Massachusetts over lead-tainted juice has been shut down by a judge in what seems like record time for a product liability class action. The ruling dismisses consolidated class action claims that eight food and beverage companies misled consumers about the safety of packaged juice and fruit products.

A lawsuit filed by Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley against five national banks and a national mortgage registration system for allegedly illegal foreclosure practices in that state is the latest in a growing number of public law enforcement cases challenging banks’ mortgage practices.
